Orasaigh Sound and the Outdoors
Orasaigh is a 45-minute binaural soundwalk by composer and sound artist Duncan MacLeod, created in collaboration with poet Steve Ely. This eight-minute excerpt, mapped to a short loop around the 101 Outdoor Arts Centre, weaves together spoken word, composed sound, and field recordings. Developed in the Outer Hebrides, the work explores themes of place, memory, and ecological change—reflecting on disappearing paths, shifting coastlines, and the deep entanglement between language, land, and listening.

Uist Soundwalks is an ongoing series of place-based soundwalks by Duncan MacLeod, created in collaboration with Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum & Arts Centre, Creative Producer Sorcha Monk, and partners across Uist. Developed through close work with local communities, the series brings together community voices, field recordings, oral histories, music and geolocative sound to explore landscape, language, ecology, memory and local knowledge across the islands.
